For modern furniture we offer a spray lacquer service, suitable for furniture such as Ercol, G Plan, Mackintosh, Nathan and Stag, and can also be applied to reproduction furntiure. It is a more reasonable alternative to hand finishes (which are very labour intensive) and the finished product can be more durable, making it ideal for surfaces which are in constant use. The degree of gloss can be altered to suit individual taste, so if you do not like a high gloss finish this can be toned down.
It can also be used to completely change the character of a piece of furniture so if you are looking for something more individual, colours can be applied to any specification. For instance, the following photographs are of 1970s reproduction desks or dressing tables sprayed with high gloss single colours:
A Queen Anne style desk or dressing table, sprayed with a high gloss red a/c lacquer. This is an extremely durable lacquer which can be used in any room, including the bathroom.
A similar Queen Anne style piece of furniture (slightly smaller) also sprayed with the a/c lacquer in high gloss black.
Again, a similar piece in high gloss yellow.
Any colour can be matched, including popular brands such as Farrow and Ball, Laura Ashley, Dulux etc.
A customer brought a bureau to us which had great sentimental value, but did not fit in with the interior of her house.
It had some veneer damage and the drawer did not work properly.
After spray lacquering with the colour of her choice, it was transformed and looked perfect in the hall:
